What is Mosaic?
Mosaic is an online magazine, created to encourage and showcase the work of creatives from ethnic minorities, for anyone and everyone to explore. Publishing a wide variety of written pieces and other forms of creative compositions, such as art, photography, poetry, prose etc.
Why we started Mosaic?
Upon finishing our first undergraduate year at Cambridge University, we were struck by the lack of diversity. However, we were also inspired by the collective drive to address the imbalance.
As we became more immersed in University life we became aware of the vast array of online spaces for student publication, yet the absence of a strong BAME voice, particularly on topics that are out with the focus of racial diversity. From this we developed Mosaic. Our aim being to add to the mix of voices expressed through published student work. In creating an accessible platform we hope to encourage more BAME students to create and share their own work, with Mosaic. as their platform.
We aim to integrate into the world of student publication and work in tandem with other student magazines to expand the collection of voices that already exist.
