interview with self

Hey, how are you doing?

Fine thanks, and you?

Yeah, I’m doing alright too. So you were approached by MARBLE. to create something for them and you made this short video. How did this come about?

Well I suppose given the nature of the magazine, I thought it would be a good chance to make something more personal than I had done in the past.

I know I’m not alone in saying that I often feel insecure about myself. It’s a state of mind that is pretty easy to slip into but an absolute pain to get out of. If I saw this happening to a friend, I would immediately try to help and support them. Yet, ironically, I've always found it difficult being a friend to myself.

By making this video, I wanted to create a version of myself that I could go back to and rely on when I’m not feeling great. Although the video was made for purely selfish reasons, I hope that other people can get some joy out of it and maybe even look to it when they are feeling insecure

It was a bit daunting to start with because it was my first attempt at animation and also, in essence, my first self portrait. Like many people, I often see parts of myself that I don’t like first, so I never wanted to draw myself before.

Why choose V. 3005? (other than the obvious reason that it’s a great track)

For me, it’s a song about having someone who’ll always be there for you. This is me telling myself that you know what, I can and will be there for myself.

Cool, so that’s it. I guess I’ll see you around.

Yeah, thanks for having me.
